Bathroom Replacement & Electrical Upgrades

AC Gold upgraded 7,500 homes for Perth and Kinross Council, delivering safe, compliant bathrooms and electrical systems ahead of schedule.

AC Gold was contracted by Perth and Kinross Council for a £2.3 million contract to deliver extensive bathroom replacements and electrical upgrades across multiple properties, ensuring full compliance with the latest IEE regulations (BS7671:2008, 18th Edition) and the Scottish Quality Housing Standards (SQHS). This work aimed to enhance tenant comfort, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Works Delivered

Our team carried out comprehensive electrical inspections, installations and full refurbishments, including:

Electrical Inspections: Full periodic inspections to meet IEE (BS7671:2008) standards.
Remedial Works: Electrical upgrades ensuring compliance with the 17th Edition and SQHS standards.
Bathroom Upgrades: Installation of new bathroom components, including electrical showers, earthing, coring, and high-level extraction fans for humidity control.
Certifications: Prompt delivery of electrical certification to the client within 24 hours of completion.

Throughout the project, we maintained a liveable environment for tenants, ensuring tenant safety and comfort by defining clear safe zones during work.

Key Objectives Achieved

We identified six key objectives before commencing work and met each one successfully throughout the contract:

Customer Care: A dedicated Tenant Liaison Officer ensured a 96% tenant satisfaction score.
Quality Assurance: Post-inspection surveys for 100% of properties, achieving zero non-conformances.
Efficient Delivery: Completed work across 7,500 properties six months ahead of schedule.
Health & Safety: Zero accidents, with strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
Environmental Responsibility: Reduced waste and increased material recycling, supporting sustainability.
Community Benefits: Created local jobs, including apprenticeships and employment for electricians and assistants.

Added Value

Our in-house expertise in electrical and building trades allowed us to deliver exceptional results, often going beyond the original scope. We regularly engaged with Council representatives, ensuring alignment on technical and operational matters. Additional work, including upgrades to kitchen and bathroom extractor fans and replacing non-compliant consumer units, was also completed, all to the latest BS7671:2008 standards.

Despite increased scope, we finished the project six months ahead of schedule.
