Linwood’s Imperial Park

Imperial Park was built as a brand new design and build project on part of the site of what was the Hillman Imp Factory at Linwood which was the back bone of local employment in that area for nearly two decades. The original car factory was opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1963 and was closed in 1981 causing mass unemployment in the town as was immortalised by the Scottish Band the Proclaimers in their famous song ‘Letter from America’ with their lyrics ‘Linwood no more’ referring to the closure of the factory.

Linwood has undergone major redevelopments since 2008 and the main objective of this project was to produce flexible large scale multi-purpose units of between 5000m2 – 7000m2 which resulted in a final build size of this project of 24,000 m2
AC Gold Electrical Services work included lightning protection, 600Amp panel boards, sub mains and switchboards, office containment and power and data points, fire alarm systems, corridor, office and public area lighting, emergency lighting, all external building lighting, and fully adoptable street lighting.

Once the initial project build was completed and the property agent had signed up business tenants, there would then be a requirement to carryout extra internal alteration and fit outs to suit the tenants new specification.
It was excellent to work on such a prestigious and well organised project which incorporated the construction of the St James Business Centre.
